Notting Hill Carnival latest

Notting Hill Carnival went ahead over one of the coldest and wettest bank holidays on record. There were 261 arrests over the two day event and two police officers were hurt as violence overshadowed the second day of the west London carnival.

Number of arrests for carnival released

By 6pm today the Metropolitan police had arrested 70 people for a variety of offences on the final day of the Notting Hill Carnival. The offences included possession of drugs and possession of an offensive weapon. The final breakdown is not yet known.

On Sunday, a total of 104 people were arrested for the following offences:

  • 3 x assault on police
  • 2 x criminal damage
  • 17 x public order
  • 5 x possession offensive weapon points
  • 7 x theft
  • 34 x drugs
  • 2 x robbery
  • 4 x GBH
  • 11 x common assault
  • 5 x theft person
  • 14 x various others
