A violent mugger who carried out knife attacks on London pensioners is on the run from Standford Hill Prison, on the Isle of Sheppey.

Sabul Miah, who is 39, absconded on Thursday but details have only come to light three days later.

Miah, who was handed two life sentences in 2003, stabbed an elderly war veteran in the chest, an 82-year-old woman in the hand and attacked three others.

Police have urged the public not to approach him, but to dial 999 if they see him.
