London's largest Mosque opened its doors to the public today in an attempt to ease religious tensions in the local community.

The Muslim Council of Britain launched the event at the East London Mosque in Whitechapel but 20 other mosques across the country also held open days.

The Council is concerned about a rise in anti-Islamic sentiment after the terror attack in Paris last month and say they hope that today's event will show unity and solidarity between different faith communities.
