Flames under control at fire near airport

A fire which started in a storage unit close to Heathrow Airport has been brought under control.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers went to the scene.

Station Manager Tim Frost said: "The fire was in a storage unit and not at Heathrow airport.

He said there had been a lot of thick black smoke at the height of the incident, but firefighters had worked quickly. They had the flames under control shortly before 1.30pm.

Crews will remain at the scene to damp down.
