A double murder investigation has been launched following the deaths of a man and a woman in Ilford.
Police were called shortly before 22:20hrs on Saturday, 5th September, to a residential care home on Cecil Road, following reports of an assault.
Two people - a man in his mid-80s and a woman in her mid-50s - were found suffering stab injuries. Both died at the scene.
The pair haven't been formally identified, but police say they know who they are and next of kin have been informed.
A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.
Both of the victims and the man arrested are believed to have been known to each other, but they were not related. None of the three was a member of staff at the care home.
