Mermaid fans gather for convention in Walthamstow

Fans of mermaids and mermen gathered at a swimming pool in Walthamstow today to show off their their swimming skills and compare tails.

It's an expensive business though - many of those at the Merfolk UK Convention have had their tails professionally moulded for around £1,500. Some have even taken courses to learn how to swim correctly.
