Former steelworkers having to resort to using a food bank

One former worker who spoke to Meridian Tonight as he picked up a food parcel said: "We've had to choose between buying food and paying bills. And you can't let your family starve."

The workers were made redundant from the Thamesteel plant in Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey in January. Now there are plans to extend the scheme across Kent as Sarah Saunders explains.
