£4m 'staycation' campaign

South east coast high on top holiday destinations list

Four million pounds has been spent on a publicity campaign launched to encourage people to holiday in the UK.

It is the biggest ever advertising promotion to boost British tourism and is urging us to ditch holidays abroad this year in favour of at home to enjoy once in a lifetime events like the Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Celebrities have been brought in to encourage holidaymakers to forget the Costas - and try Bournemouth, Brighton or Broadstairs instead, as Amanda Piper explains.
