As the Chancellor George Osborne announced his Budget, Chartered Accountant Nigel Kimber explained what it will mean to Claire Rose, husband Ian and 13 year-old son Lewis.

He explained that the increase in personal allowance will mean basic rate tax payers are £170 a year better off after inflation.

There were new taxes on tobacco (5%) putting up the cost of cigarettes by 37p a packet, but the price of petrol remains the same and only people earning more than £60,000 will now lose their child benefit completely.
