After beating the six minute mark in their semi-finals earlier this week, Britain's Lightweight Four failed to take gold today - just edged into second place by the South Africans.

Rob Williams from Maidenhead and Chris Bartley and Richard and Peter Chambers from Henley missed out on Gold by 0.25 of a second at Eton Dorney.

After a struggle to get into the medal places, the four had to settle for silver with a time of 6.03.09. They beat Denmark by the narrowest of margins to take second - a great achievement but not what the hotly tipped four were hoping for.
