Firefighters will go on strike for four continuous days in the run-up to Bonfire Night.

With the action coming between Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night celebrations, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service are urging people to attend organised events only.

Leaving the potentially dangerous displays in the hands of experts should lead to less unwanted emergencies and help the fire service, as the strike will lead to a reduced service and impact response times.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will walk out between Friday (31 October) and Tuesday (4 November) as part of an ongoing dispute with the government over pensions.

We want people to enjoy all the spectacular sights and sounds of this time of year, but leave the safety arrangements to the event organisers while you worry about tucking into a hot dog
