The 4th Basingstoke Festival came to a grand finale on Sunday with its trademark Live music weekend.

It was a lively end to more than 3 weeks of music, dance, theatre, comedy, circus and craft which brought people out onto the streets and open spaces of Basingstoke and the surrounding area in a glorious summer celebration.

Highlights this year included a spectacular opening Carnival parade, a World Party, food festivals in the parks, street performers of all kinds in Top Hat Sunday, adventure, suspense, tales of war, a truly unnerving journey into darkness and much more through theatre, beautiful acrobatics from the internationally-acclaimed Mimbre, a Scarecrow Festival and other events for all the family.

New performances were created especially for the festival through the Art Lab programme, including theatre, outdoor performance and installations. There was even the opportunity to learn new skills – from junk percussion to sampling the delights of the ukulele!

This year’s festival, co-ordinated by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, ran from 19 June to 12 July and featured over 100 events taking place throughout the borough.

“This has been a wonderful way to get people together enjoying the very best in arts and entertainment. Both local talent as well as national and international acts have been showcased and celebrated and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to provide such glorious opportunities. We’d like to give a very special thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s festival, especially our volunteer Festival Ambassadors.”
