I Am Team GB offers free events throughout our region

This is a tryout day at Southampton Coalporters Rowing Club to give you the chance to see if rowing is for you!

All abilities and ages are welcome, from non-competitive to competitive rowing. There is a small charge of £5 which includes refreshments. The club is located on the River Itchen, close to Northam Bridge. Full details here.

Sports taster sessions are being held in Southampton Credit: ParkLives

A host of free Olympic sport taster sessions will be held in Southampton, at ParkLives. There will be everything from sailing and rowing to tennis.

ParkLives is a long term community initiative from Coca-Cola Great Britain in partnership with local authorities. It provides free activities for everyone, every day through spring and summer in local parks and green spaces.

It’s a relaxed, supportive and fun way for everybody to get out in the great outdoors and get themselves moving, as well as meeting new people and making friends.

Datto Ping! is the free street ping pong festival which sees table tennis tables popping up in remarkable and surprising places in 21 towns and cities all over England.

The ping pong extravaganza is just too tempting to resist; to join in the fun, simply grab a bat from the side of the table and play – absolutely free of charge! Details about the Brighton and Hove event here.

The fitness event will be held in Prospect Park Credit: ITV

A massive British Military fitness session will be held in Prospect Park, Reading.

Prospect Park is a large park with lots of enjoyable features, including one or two hills, which ensure a full body workout where no two sessions are the same. There are excellent facilities, including ample parking, changing rooms and toilets, plus a pub and restaurant on the site.

Beginners can enjoy a special session Credit: Walderslade Judo Club

Come and try judo at one of Medway’s largest and most active judo clubs. Walderslade Judo Club will be holding an Open Day where beginners can come and join in with a special session from 11:00 to 14:00.

Beginners will be able to learn what judo is all about and pick up a leaflet enabling them to come back to the club on a regular club night and try judo again for 4 weeks for free. Details about the event here.

There will be a free free friendly timed 5km run on Saturday 27th August at Harcourt Hill, Oxford. They are open to runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities. If you don’t fancy running, you can always volunteer! For more information click here.
