Banbury bans 'celebrities' from festive switch-on
'Celebrity' guests have been banned from Banbury's Christmas lights switch-on as the town tries to create a more classy ambience.
Hundreds are set to gather in the town on Sunday, November 27 to welcome the start of the festive season.
But this year Banbury Town Council has announced it will be focusing on creating a Christmas event without any special guests.
In previous years TV stars including Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne and X Factor performer Sam Bailey have brought an extra sparkle to proceedings, but not any more.
Cllr Colin Clarke said people would instead be treated to music, Christmas craft stalls and fireworks.
