Police are expected to release fresh details about the murder of a man in Dorset later this evening.
Earlier, at around 3.am, police received reports that at least two intruders had broken into the house in Castlewood, a leafy cul-de-sac in the St Ives area of Ringwood.
The roads around the crime scene have this afternoon been cordoned off, with road blocks set up to stop anyone but residents from passing through.
Investigators remain at the scene and are asking anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to get in contact with them.
They've confirmed that no one has been arrested, but have said little else about the detail of the incident.
It's not known what type of firearm was discharged, or if it has been recovered.
A high police presence continues in the St Ives area, with house to house enquiries being carried out and high-visibility patrols to reassure the community.
More as we get it.
