Firefighters enlisted to pick up slack from Carillion

Oxfordshire County Council has taken over the running of services provided by Carillion following news of its liquidation.

The authority has contacted head teachers at affected schools, asking them to reassure their catering and cleaning staff that their roles are secure and that the county council will ensure staff are paid.
