Tribute paid to 90 year old involved in collision with motorbike

The family of a 90 year old pedestrian, who died after being involved in a collision with a motorbike, have said he was 'very much loved'.

The collision happened on 19th August 2017 in Northdown Road in Cliftonville.

24 year old Peter Manzi, of St Luke's Avenue, Ramsgate is accused of causing death by dangerous driving.

Manzi is also accused of causing death by careless driving whilst over the prescribed limit of drugs, causing death by driving while disqualified and causing death by driving while uninsured.

He is due to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 20th February.

"He had a long retirement and really enjoyed living by the sea and having his family to stay. He had two children and three grandchildren."

He delighted in the wonderful energy, goodness, gentleness and the sense of hope that his grandchildren have. He was happy to share in their exciting world of discovery, kindness and musical talents, playing instruments and singing in choirs."

"Tom had a strong belief in social justice and the ability of people to work together for the benefit of humankind. He will be remembered for his great optimism, his modesty, his encouragement to those he met and his ability to recognise only the most positive qualities of his family and friends."
