The seventh biggest ship in the world has visited Southampton on her maiden voyage
The 400m-long CMA CGM Antoine De Saint Exupery is the biggest ship to ever call at the port.
Due to changes in the global shipping industry and the drive to be as economical and efficient as possible, the port is seeing fewer vessel calls but the vessels are much bigger.
And the company behind the ship, CMA CGM, says its vessels are getting greener and greener all the time.
It says not only is this ship technically advanced in terms of fuel efficiency and her green credentials, it will soon become the first shipping company to choose liquefied natural gas for its even bigger ships being delivered in 2020.
In a bid to be at the forefront on the industry, the Port of Southampton has invested hundreds of millions of pounds in recent years expanding, building bigger cranes and creating deeper channels so it can handle the bigger ships.
