Hampshire at the Hall- talented youngsters celebrate the county music scene

Tonight the roof will be raised at the Royal Albert Hall by more than 2,000 young musicians from the south.

'Hampshire at the Hall' is the county's biggest ever celebration of musical talent- for six months, 150 schools, orchestras, dance groups and choirs have been preparing.

The concert at the home of the Proms has been organised by the County Music Service, backed by Hampshire County Council.

On the programme, pieces by Stravinsky, Mussorgsky and Elgar, as well as a new commission for massed choir, 'My World', by Hampshire composer Tom Guyer and writer Zella Compton.

Narrated by actress Sarah Parish, 'My World' is a mini musical about ocean pollution and our collective responsibility for change.

The concert will also commemorate those who have fought and died in war- the programme includes Passchendaele and the anthem We Will Remember Them.
