Firefighters responding to a five-car crash were forced to out of their vehicle to clear illegally dumped rubbish which was blocking their route.
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has now released a photo of the fly-tipping on the A27 emergency access slip road.
The incident meant they were delayed reaching the scene of the accident in the Southwick tunnel outside Brighton on Friday.
