Large parts of the Oxfordshire countryside have been left black and charred after a series of fires during this unprecedented dry, hot spell.
At the weekend, crews acted quickly to stop a fire in a field in Ardley near Bicester spreading to the nearby railway line.
And in the last four weeks, firefighters have tackled more than 160 blazes involving fields and farm equipment which has burst into flames.
The fire service says it is stretched to its limit because of this high level if incidents. Cary Johnston reports from Ardley.
