Firefighters work overnight to tackle huge industrial waste fire

Firefighters have spent the night tackling huge fire that broke out in an industrial estate in Margate yesterday morning.

At its height more than seventy firefighters battled the blaze at the industrial waste site in Westwood and the black smoke could be seen eight miles away.

Crews from Kent Fire & Rescue Service worked overnight to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring units.

People in the area - including in the Dane Valley Estate - have been warned to keep doors and windows closed for a second night.
