Passengers flee coach fire on M2

Passengers had to be led to safety after a coach caught fire on the M2.

The blaze completely destroyed the 53-seater coach which was travelling on the coast-bound carriageway between junctions 1 and 2.

Emergency services were called at 6.20pm on Saturday October 13th.

The Lehane Travel bus caught alight in lane one of the motorway, which was completely closed coast-bound between the two junctions.

All occupants were safely evacuated and there were no reported injuries.

It's believed to have started because of an overheated engine.

The road reopened by 9pm.
