Car flips over after hitting tree and injuring elderly driver in rural Oxfordshire

An elderly woman has been cut free from her car after it crashed into a tree in Oxfordshire.

Emergency services were called to Mill Lane near Charlgrove early on Saturday morning to find the vehicle on its side, having flipped over in the collision.

The driver was trapped in the front seats and had to be lifted out through the back of the car. She was taken to hospital by ambulance. Her condition is not known.

Station Manager Andy Ford who attended the incident, said

“With the winter weather now starting to get colder, roads are slippery with icy conditions in places.

Following a number of Road Traffic Collisions throughout Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley already this year, I would urge drivers to be extra cautious in the upcoming cold weather, drive according to the conditions and leave extra time for your journey.

Always be able to stop in the distance you can see, stopping distances could be over 4 times longer when roads are wet or icy.
