A fallen tree has crashed onto two houses in Haywards Heath, with residents inside 'lucky to be alive'.
Fire and rescue crews from West Sussex were called just after 6am to Syresham Garden on Wednesday morning.
The 100-year-old oak tree badly damaged the second floor of both houses, leaving them structurally unsafe.
The residents were not injured in the incident, but it is likely it will be some time before they can return to their homes.
One couple was making breakfast at the time the tree fell over while a woman in the second property was sleeping downstairs as her bedroom was being renovated.
Tree surgeons are now dealing with the incident to make the area safe.
