Around 34 migrants, some of them children, have been rescued from a boat sailing close to the Dover coastline.

It's thought they were travelling from the French coast headed for England in one small boat.

The RNLI said it sent two of its rescue boats alongside three Border Force vessels.

The group of people, whose nationalities are not yet known, were brought to shore and given blankets.

Since November last year, 221 migrants have attempted the crossing.

Local MP Charlie Elphicke has said that so far the government's actions have not gone far enough to prevent more migrants arriving on British shores.

The Home Office are currently investigating those found on the boat.
