Ruby, 11, scared to walk home alone after hit-and-run

Report from Chloe Oliver

An 11-year-old girl, knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in Southampton, says she's now too scared to walk to school alone.

Ruby Simmons has been left shaken - with a broken ankle and a black eye - after she was struck by a green Ford Mondeo in Swaythling.

Ruby's mum says her daughter could have been killed.

Ruby says she was walking home slowly after hurting her foot in a PE lesson.

I was limping across the road because it was hurting, and then they crashed into me, and when I woke up in the ambulance I was shocked.
