The Flying Scotsman visits Dorset

  • Richard Slee reports

One of the most famous locomotives in the world, The Flying Scotsman, is visiting Dorset.

In its heyday, the steam engine reached speeds of up to 100mph.

By 1963, it was destined for the scrap heap, but was saved when Alan Pegler bought it for £3000.

Today, his daughter Penny was there to wave off passengers in Swanage.
