Detectives investigating the disappearance of an elderly woman from Oxford are appealing for CCTV and dashcam footage to help their search. Maja O'Brien, who is 78 and a flute player, was last seen by friends last Wednesday night.
It's believed she then left her home again, on her purple bike, sometime between 05:00 and 09:00 on Thursday morning. Her disappearance has been described as out of character
Investigators say there are growing increasingly concerned for Ms O'Brien's welfare now she has been missing for a week. Thames Valley Police are working with Oxfordshire Lowland Search and Rescue in a bid to locate her.
The community may have noticed an increased police presence this morning, particularly in the areas of Wytham Street and Hinksey Stream. Officers are handing out flyers to members of the public to mark one week since she was last seen.
Police are searching Ms O'Brien's home for any receipts or documents which could provide some clues as to where she might be. They say their searches - along river banks, roads, tow paths and lakes will continue.
