The pair met at Blind Veterans UK less than a year ago.

Peter popped the question six months later.

Both were in the forces during the Second World War and both still living with the pain of losing their partners.

The pair say their connection was "instantaneous".

My wife died seven years ago and I was so lonely. I've now got a new life given to me by Nancy."

– Peter Van Zeller

My life is not finished even though I'm 97 and probably in a few weeks I will have no sight at all. In the service I thought to myself whether we live together a long time or not, at least our last few years have been among the happiest."
