Brighton manager Chris Hughton says his team need to show their quality and fighting spirit if they are to stay in the Premier League.

His comments come after the club suffered a damaging home defeat to Cardiff last night - their fourth in a row in the league - to leave them just two points above the Welsh side, who currently occupy the final relegation spot.

We've always had a battle on our hands [to stay in the Premier League]. We've no choice but to roll our sleeves up, show the quality that we've got. It's still very much in our own hands. We need to show fighting spirit and togetherness and take that into these final games."

– CHRIS HUGHTON, BRIGHTON MANAGER

A goal in each half from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Sean Morrison sealed the win for Cardiff.

Brighton do have a game in hand on most of their relegation rivals but their run-in looks daunting as they will face the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City in their remaining five games.
