Troops who flew from Dorset to Pegasus Bridge

The gliders were towed to France by Halifax bombers...

'D' Company of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry set off from an airfield in Dorset. In the dead of night, they hit the ground in wooden gliders. They came down just a few metres from their target...Pegasus Bridge.

The first group of gliders landed in marshes on the night of June 5th 1944. Incredibly they came down just a few metres from their target. That target was Pegasus Bridge. Tom Savvides reports.
