Staff at the Wildwood Trust had bought cameras to help their research into the endangered dormice - this is what they captured instead. Over the May bank holiday thieves ransacked the shop and stole hundreds of pounds of donations from the baby doormice appeal.
The charity near Herne Bay was one of a number of premises targetted during a night of break ins. The footage was posted on social media - and viewed more than 150-thousand times.
The footage helped identify one of the gang members. 25-year-old Jordan Line from Ramsgate pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle and was jailed for four years.
Kent Police said over the weekend of 5 and 6 May 2019 a total of 17 burglaries and attempted burglaries were reported.
Charity boxes were stolen and safes were ransacked from a number of locations, including cafes, offices, industrial units, and bars in Herne Bay, Manson, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, Westgate, Birchington and Canterbury.
