Hunt for hit-and-run cyclist who left schoolgirl with fractured eye socket

Casey Mason, 12, was left with a fractured eye socket in the incident

A schoolgirl from Hampshire has been left with horrific facial injuries after being knocked off her scooter by a cyclist who then rode off.

12-year-old Casey Mason was on her way to school in Bursledon when she was knocked face-first onto the pavement, fracturing her eye socket:

He rode past me. Our handlebars hit each other. I fell on the ground and hit my head. He just looked behind, and saw it, and then carried on riding."

Her mother, Natalie Stewart, says she knows it may have been an accident, but she's shocked anyone would injure a child and leave them by the roadside:

Casey and her family are appealing for witnesses to catch the man responsible. Hampshire Police is urging anyone with information to come forward.
