Becky Wall - who is 28 - remains in a coma at Southampton General Hospital.
Her car was involved in a collision with a BMW on Briddlesford Road in Newport last week. A police investigation is underway.
So far an online donation page has raised thousands of pounds to help Becky's family pay for travel to the mainland and other expenses.
Watch this report by Kerry Swain who spoke to her brother-in-law:
Mother, animal lover, outdoorsy, very close to her family, a kind and decent person. That's how people who love Becky Wall describe her.
Those friends and relatives now keeping in vigil in hospital.
Alex Blundell, Brother-in-law:
Skid marks point to the spot at Newport on the Isle of Wight where Becky suffered life threatening injuries in a car crash on her way home from the pet shop where she works.
Two men in a BMW which was in collision with her car left the scene before police arrived.
Six days after the accident Becky remains in a coma in intensive care at Southampton General Hospital.
The emotional cost to Becky's family is matched by by huge financial pressures.
A fundraising campaign reached it's target within two hours.
Any money left over will go to the air ambulance, the hospital and Becky's six year old daughter.
She's fighting, she's still in a coma, we've had positive baby steps over the past couple of days, pressure in her brain has stabilised but there's a long road ahead.
Police say they have identified the man they believe was driving the BMW and are appealing to him to hand himself in.
