Murder probe launched after man found fatally shot in Hampshire lay-by

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in a car near Corhampton.

Police were called to a lay-by in Shepherds Farm Lane at 9.58am by a member of the public, who discovered the body.

The dead man has been named as 41-year-old Gurinderjit Rai (also known as G) from Eastleigh.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The family request that their privacy is respected at this time.

A post mortem examination has confirmed the man died as a result of shotgun wounds.

Hampshire Police believe it was a targeted incident.
