Transgender athlete praises triathlon's LGBT inclusiveness

Around 1600 athletes from across the world were in Hove on Sunday to take part in the Brighton and Hove triathlon. Among them, an athlete competing openly as a transgender man for the first time, a pensioner racing in his first ever triathlon at the age of 86, and a World Champion.

It was a test of speed and endurance as they swam, cycled and ran their way to the finish line.

It's probably one of the most welcoming events of the year in terms of LGBT inclusiveness, regardless of gender, age, sexuality, you can just come along and have a good day out and you don't have to worry about what people will say."
