Developer speaks out after £400m plans agreed for landmark site rejected

The future of one of the most sought-after developments on the south coast is in doubt tonight - after plans to save a £400m vision for Hove's King Alfred Centre were thrown out.

The leisure complex has overlooked the city's historic promenade since the 1930s - and after Brexit was blamed for financiers walking away two months ago, new backers were found.

But now the council has scrapped plans for sports facilities and hundreds of affordable homes, and says it wants to start again.
