Brighton's answer to Cannes begins on Friday night.
Last year's Oscar winner The Favourite received one of its first screenings at CineCity.
This year's festival also includes work from local directors including Andrew Finch's Landscapes of the Heart, a 'love letter to the city's radical history'.
The largest film festival in the South East, CineCity says this year's programme is putting an emphasis on debuts - with half its screenings the work of new directors.
The festival closes on November 17 with an early screening of Jojo Rabbit from Thor: Ragnorak director Taika Waiti.
