Hundreds of people attended an illegal rave at a disused carpet store in Kent overnight.

Police were called to the disused Carpetright Store on the Strood Retail Park on Saturday.

The scenes were filmed by a passer-by who said around two thousand people appeared to be inside the store.

Around a dozen police cars attended to ensure public safety. Following the event, young people were spotted heading towards Rochester railway station.

"Kent Police officers attended Strood Retail Park following reports of antisocial behaviour by young people travelling to the location.

"It was established that a suspected unlicensed music event was being held inside a disused warehouse with a significant number of people in attendance. "Officers remained at the location to prevent any potential breach of the peace, ensure public safety and identify if any criminal offences had been committed.
