Thieves have caused thousands of pounds of damage to an historic church in Medway, before making off with a charity pot containing less than £200.
St Margaret's church in Rainham was broken into last night, by thieves who smashed a stained glass window and ransacked an office.
Police were called to the 900-year-old building at 7.40am. Sunday services were cancelled as investigations were carried out.
The Rev Nathan Ward said he bore no ill will, and that he would 'welcome an opportunity to meet with those involved so we can help and support them.'
The church has started a Just Giving campaign to replace the damaged window and pay for increased security.
This is a season where we especially think of those whose lives have taken a wrong turn and would welcome an opportunity to meet with those involved so we can help and support them. We bear no ill will.
