The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have been in Portsmouth to formally welcome the aircraft carrier the HMS Prince of Wales into the Royal Navy.
Today's commissioning ceremony also paid tribute to the crew of the last HMS Prince of Wales which was sunk on this day in 1941 with the loss of hundreds of lives.
Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall is the Lady Sponsor of HMS Prince of Wales. Together with Prince Charles they paid tribute to the men and women who built the ship.
HMS Prince of Wales arrived alongside her sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth last month.
