Philippa has the latest weather for the west

Daytime showers will soon clear to leave a dry night with a widespread ground frost and the potential for some icy patches by dawn. Cloud and rain will soon spread in from the southwest on Thursday, the rain turning persistent and locally heavy by the afternoon. Winds will strengthen too, making it feel rather cold.

This Evening and Tonight:Some residual showers in the far east initially, locally heavy and blustery, clearing east. Dry and largely clear with lighter winds elsewhere, leading to a frost, mainly in rural areas. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Thursday:Bright or sunny start to Thursday. Becoming increasingly windy and cloudy ahead of a band of rain, heavy at times, slowly spreading eastwards during the afternoon and evening. Cold. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
