• Watch the moment firefighters grapple with the three-foot snake:

Firefighters in Hampshire have rescued a three-foot long Albino Corn Snake from the dashboard of a car.

It managed to escape from its box during a journey and slither into the dashboard, where it remained for two weeks.

I think they did think I was joking and wasting their time to start with and I said I'm 100% sure it's definitely in there. So they started to look for it and it wasn't until they actually saw its head they believed I was telling the truth.

The snake's owner, Summer Cassar from Chandler's Ford, used a dead mouse to try to coax it out herself but pulled into Eastleigh fire station as a last resort.

Under the advice of experts, crews turned the heating on, then half an hour later the snake poked its head out in the search for colder air.

The snake was returned to Summer unharmed.
