Teenager who died following stabbing in Thornhill named

A 17-year-old boy who died following a stabbing in Hampshire has been named by police.

James Laurie from Southampton died from his injuries following the incident in the Thornhill area on Sunday January 19.

A 15-year-old boy from Andover has been charged with murder.

Police were called to the Thornhill area of Southampton at 6.15am on Sunday following reports of an assault in Lindsay Road.

James Laurie was rushed to Southampton General Hospital but police confirmed he had died from his injuries.

A team of detectives, specialist search officers and neighbourhood officers are working on the investigation.

This is a tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life. We believe at this stage that this is an isolated incident, but we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the Thornhill area on Sunday prior to us being called at 6.15am."

Police will be conducting extra patrols in the area during the investigation.
