Household waste sites across West Sussex closed due to coronavirus

All household waste sites across West Sussex are closed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It follows an increase in the number of people using the sites, causing long queues which is putting the "safety of residents and staff at risk".

The company Viridor, which runs the sites, said it is "unable to guarantee that residents will be able to socially distance themselves".

The decision has been made alongside West Sussex County Council which said that "a lot of residents have taken to doing some home improvements or getting out in the garden to have a clear out".

We will be looking at measures that can be taken to enable us to re-open the sites safely, but for the time being we have no choice but to close them entirely.”
