In a statement, festival organisers said the "decision hasn't been taken lightly" and that despite their best efforts it was "unavoidable given the current status".

Customers will either have the option to refund their tickets, or keep it and use it next year.

"The safety of our audience, artists, crew and the Isle of Wight community is paramount and we appreciate your patience whilst we’ve been working through this unprecedented situation."

Singers Lewis Capaldi and Lionel Richie were among the performers due to headline this years' festival.

Organisers are yet to confirm a new date for the event, but say it will "be back stronger than ever in 2021."
