Police horse named after PC Harper
A Thames Valley Police horse has been named after PC Andrew Harper.
PC Harper, died while responding to reports of a burglary near Sulhamstead in Berkshire in August last year.
His widow Lissie Harper met the newest recruit of the mounted section.
Lissie said the horse was "a big friendly giant with huge feet and big ears... just perfect".
I am absolutely delighted that the mounted section have chosen the name Harper for their latest horse and it’s a fitting tribute to our fallen colleague Andrew Harper, who was held in such high regard by us all."
The trial of three men accused of murdering PC Harper is expected to start next week after the pandemic stopped proceedings.
