Commuters driving on a motorway in Surrey had their journeys delayed this morning, after a wandering cow left its field and went for a walk down the lanes.

It happened at around 8.30am on the M25 anti-clockwise between junction 5 and 6 near Godstone.

For the safety of both the cow and those on the road, all carriages were closed whilst Traffic Officers and the cow's farmer combined forces to round the animal up.

Soon enough, they were able to usher the cow back to the field and the carriageways were re-opened at around 9.23am.

There were delays of 30 minutes above normal journey time reported.
