Two Sussex teenagers swim the English Channel as part of a relay team

Two teeneagers from Sussex have crossed the English Channel as part of a relay team of four.

Hettie Rankin, who's 16, and 18-year-old Hamish Zon swam through the night - setting off at midnight and arriving in France 14 hours later

It was the first time the pair had swim the Channel, completing what they say was a gruelling but enjoyable challenge.


Hettie Rankin described the experience as "amazing".


The relay team was comprised of Hettie, her dad Derek, her uncle Steve and Hamish.

The two teens managed to raise 7 thousand pounds between them for charity. Hamish raised £1,500 for Young Epilepsy, a condition he had as a child.


Hamish Zon said there were moments when it did get a bit cold.
